It was lovely to welcome so many people to the Carol Service. The church glowed with candle light and Christmas decorations and it was an opportunity for people to share the joy of Christmas together.
The service started with all the children and many of their parents taking part in a lively and hilarious dramatisation of the Christmas Story. It all had to be done spontaneously, so it was a combination of first read-through, dress rehearsal and first performance rolled into one, all prepared, directed and narrated by Terry Hickman.
When everyone had enthusiastically applauded all who had taken part, the service itself began. The choir led the singing and the readings were done by representatives of local businesses and organisations. It was a marvellous illustration of the relationship that the Priory Church tries to have with the community.
After the service mulled wine and mince pies were served and many people were able to stay and enjoy being together.
