Despite the snowy weather, a good crowd of children and adults came to the Christingle Service. We made a few quick adjustments to the choice of carols to fit the CDs we had, because the organist was snowed in, and then we were launched on a very happy service.
Everyone helped to make the Christingles and to make sure that plenty of sweets went on them and extras were made to take to family members and friends who were not able to come.
The short address was a reminder that not everyone has a large enough share of the world’s food, which is what the fruits and sweets on the orange represent, and that the Children’s Society will be busy trying to make Christmas a happier one for children who will not be having such a good Christmas. Many thanks to all who came and contributed to the collection for the Children’s Society.
