Advent Windows

Advent Calendar Windows Trail

It seems unlikely that we will be singing Carols in the pubs, and our Church Carols services will be quite different this year.

How about an Advent Calendar Window Trail around the Parish?  This would be based on old and new Christmas Carols, using the Church of England’s Christmas theme of ‘Comfort and Joy’?

  • We are inviting you to make a ‘stained-glass window’ on the theme of a Carol.
  • The Carol for each Advent Calendar window will be on a list on the Church Facebook page or by email from   First come, first served to pick a particular date and carol.
  • The window would be lit from within the house or business and can be a silhouette with black paper or illuminated coloured plastic, paint or tissue paper. (See samples below)
  • The upstairs or downstairs window needs to be easily visible from the road (no going up paths, please)
  • The windows would be “opened” (illuminated) on the correct night and through to Epiphany (12th night, 6th January) and from about 4pm to 9pm each evening if possible, please.
  • The window should also contain the words ‘Comfort & Joy’ and an angel.
  • We will be challenging families to see how many angels they can ‘collect’ in the run up to Christmas Day.

I attach the list for your information.  Your name and address will not be given out just the street where the illuminated window will be.
